Project start date : 01/04/2020
Last updated : 15/04/2024
Beneficiary country : Togo
What problem does the initiative address ?
In Togo, in 2018, 40% of the population was under 15 years of age and more than 60% was under 25 years of age. Indicators in the field of health are mostly below expectations and standards: the early pregnancy rate (before age 18) is 17.3% and increasing each year in schools, 84‰ of needs among adolescents are not being met, the mother and infant mortality rate is 401‰ and the HIV prevalence rate is 2.5%. Young people are groaning under the weight of problems such as early pregnancy, STIs and HIV/AIDS due to insufficient parent-child communication on sexuality and access to friendly sexual and reproductive health rights services, which are difficult to access from a geographical, sociocultural and economic point of view.
Detailed description of the initiative
InfoAdoJeunes is a multifunctional mobile application which offers users the following: monitoring of menstrual cycle, games related to sexual reproductive health (SRH), remote consultations, on-line advice, a forum on SRH and contraception, and comprehensive sex education (CSE) lessons. The remote consultation in question is a form of tele-medicine which gives users the benefit of friendly and suitably adapted clinical services thanks to ATBEF providers (doctors) working on line. This application provides free remote consultation services with the issue of a medical prescription or a digital analysis report depending on the nature or severity of the disease. This app, with its green line tab offers information, advice or assistance from teleadvisors. The InfoAdoJeunes web-TV tab allows users to be informed and educated through socio-educational series or short films. In short, it is a multifunctional application.
What is the proposed solution added value ?
InfoAdoJeunes provides free and user-friendly services adapted to meet the needs of vulnerable and marginalised young people. It also helps overcome the sense of embarrassment felt by teenagers and young people around health service providers. It provides complete on-line sex education courses with issue of a certificate signed jointly by the Ministers for Health and Education and the Board of Management of ATBEF, through the link www.elearningatbef.org
