Online paediatric tele-ultrasound platform for diagnostic purposes
Project start date : 01/04/2016
Last updated : 16/03/2022
Beneficiary country : Afghanistan Cambodia Mozambique Guinea
What problem does the initiative address ?
Children in foreign countries do not have access to suitable diagnosis or treatment with regard to the complexity of the congenital heart diseases they suffer from. The acquisition of a diagnosis and access to quality treatment leads to significantly better survival rates among patients.
Detailed description of the initiative
Doctors overseas have access to a 100% online platform on which they can upload images of paediatric cardiac ultrasounds. Doctors in France can observe the images and make decisions about patient treatment. If necessary, the Chaîne de l’Espoir is responsible for the logistics related to surgery when it is required, in France and in some cases abroad.
What is the proposed solution added value ?
Capturing and retransmitting images asynchronously is technically difficult for physicians, when it is even possible, but it also makes it difficult to guide the examiner regarding a fine-tuned interpretation of paediatric cardiac ultrasound imaging.
