The creation of the professional order database stems is part of their vision to be more effective and efficient
Project start date : 01/01/2012

Beneficiary country : Mali
What problem does the initiative address ?
Problem to solve: Impossible to manage the national register of professional orders on paper (need to digitise).
Detailed description of the initiative
Professional healthcare orders help the Ministries to improve how they organise medical, dental, pharmaceutical, nursing and paramedical practices. The reinforcement of these structures should enable them to better understand their role, including: respect for the code of ethics, registration on the order’s national roll, recognition of qualifications, registration of diplomas, professional ethics issue resolution, the development and updating of professional act classification by speciality and disciplinary power. The professional orders must also support the Ministry of Health in the process of accrediting services and certifying professionals. These roles cannot be taken on without effective management tools being available and adapted to a modern environment. As such, the professional orders have called upon the National Agency for Telehealth and Medical Informatics to create databases enabling them to manage the thousands of registered health professionals in a flexible, transparent way, and to allow each citizen, wherever they may be, at any time and in any place, to view the status of a health professional. The main result will be to enhance the ethics of healthcare professionals and their practices, while significantly improving the quality and safety of the services provided to the populations.
What is the proposed solution added value ?
The solution makes it possible to effectively and efficiently manage all the healthcare professionals who are registered in the different orders in terms of: respect for the code of ethics, registration on the order’s national roll, recognition of qualifications, registration of diplomas, professional ethics, the development and updating of professional act classification by speciality and disciplinary power. Finally, the possibility for all Malian citizens to check that each professional is authorised to practice according to current regulations.
