What problem does the initiative address ?
TRAIN addresses the problem of limited access to quality training and learning opportunities, for healthcare professionals in lower-resource settings. Health agencies and providers are typically unable to prepare health professionals for the vast variety of conditions that they may see and try to improve upon. This is where a collaborative network like TRAIN comes in.
Detailed description of the initiative
TRAIN is an online learning network that provides access to thousands of quality training opportunities to more than 1.5 million professionals, who protect and improve the public’s health. Powered by the Public Health Foundation (PHF), the TRAIN Learning Network brings together agencies and organizations in the public health, healthcare, and preparedness sectors to disseminate, track, and share trainings for the health workforce on a single online learning management system (LMS) platform. This platform was built by and for the health workforce.
What is the proposed solution added value ?
The TRAIN Learning Network operates through economies of scale to bring together agencies and organizations in the public health, healthcare, and preparedness sectors to disseminate, track, and share trainings for the health workforce on a single online learning management system (LMS) platform. By working together, agencies and providers of training can build capacity of the workforce across a variety of topics, health professionals can easily find training and learning opportunities from various organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies quickly, and standardized data on the workforce can be encouraged. Anyone, anywhere can create an account on the TRAIN Learning Network and take training at no cost.
