Microplanning & GIS Data Collection
Developing more reliable GPS-generated population models to improve health intervention planning in Nigeria
Project start date : 01/05/2013
Last updated : 16/03/2022
Beneficiary country : Nigeria
What problem does the initiative address ?
The Nigerian government has insufficient target population numbers and GIS data to effectively plan vaccination campaigns and health service delivery.
Detailed description of the initiative
Since 2013, in collaboration with WHO and Novel-T, eHA has been helping to reach settlements chronically missed in healthcare delivery through its Microplanning [&] GIS Data Collection Project. Target population numbers are necessary to determine the amount of vaccines required, the number of healthcare workers required to deliver vaccines, and the cost of transportation to get the vaccines and healthcare workers to where they need to go. To improve microplanning for polio eradication and vaccination coverage for children under 5 in Nigeria, eHA’s teams have developed a more reliable GPS-generated population model, which the Nigerian government is using to plan health interventions and service delivery. This project has been crucial for improving vaccination coverage and helping to ensure that every last child receives their vaccines.
What is the proposed solution added value ?
eHA teams have developed a more reliable GPS-generated population model, which provides the necessary data to plan health interventions.
